How the scorecards work

The scorecards use public Google data on the date shown. Rating is the live Google star average. Review volume is how many customers have rated the firm, compared with other San Antonio contractors. Confidence weighs the rating by that volume. Recency reflects how recently people are still leaving reviews.

What shapes general contractor costs in San Antonio?

Contractor pricing depends on the scope of work, materials, how much needs to be demolished or repaired first, and whether the firm uses subcontractors. We found no published San Antonio price lists to cite, so this page carries no price table. Reviewers mention fair or reasonable pricing in several cases, and the reliable way to compare is to collect itemized written bids for the same scope.

Contractors around San Antonio

These firms list San Antonio addresses on Bandera Road, Callaghan Road, Oak Glen and Westfall Avenue, and one SATX Remodeling reviewer had work done at a home in Cordillera Ranch. Searching for a general contractor near me? Each listing shows a phone number and map link so you can contact the closest option.

What to ask before you sign with a contractor

Are you licensed and insured, and can I see proof?
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors for each trade?
Is the bid itemized, and how are change orders handled?
What warranty covers the work, and how do I request a warranty visit?
Who is my day-to-day contact, and how often will you update me?
What is the payment schedule, and how is it tied to progress?

Frequently asked questions

What does a general contractor do in San Antonio that a handyman does not?

A general contractor manages larger projects such as kitchen and bathroom remodels, room additions and exterior rebuilds, and coordinates the trades involved. The firms here are described by reviewers working on a room extension, a balcony deck, a gutted bathroom and custom cabinetry.

Which of these contractors handles roofing?

Google tags Herbert H. Construction, South Texas Contractors & Roofing and ALO General Contractor as roofing contractors, and SATX Remodeling’s site lists shingle and metal roofing. Check each firm’s current services and ask for roofing references before booking.

Do any of these contractors offer discounts or a warranty?

Herbert H. Construction’s site advertises veterans and senior discounts, and GMG Construction of South Texas’s site states a 10-year warranty. Both are the firms’ own claims, so ask to see the terms in writing.

How should I weigh a negative review of a contractor?

Read the contractor’s reply as well as the complaint, look at what the project involved, and see whether other reviewers describe a similar job. Then ask the firm directly how it handles problems after completion.

The safe default

Herbert H. Construction is the safe default for remodels and additions, with GMG Construction of South Texas a strong alternative for kitchens and baths. Whoever you pick, get itemized bids and warranty terms in writing.
